Beef and Broccolini Stir Fry

Beef & Broccolini:

  • 2 lbs. beef tenderloin strips
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil, divided
  • 1 small onion, halved & thinly sliced
  • 2 bunches of broccolini, trimmed & chopped
  • 1 tbsp sesame seeds (garnish)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (garnish)

Stir Fry Sauce:

  • 3/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tbsp grated fresh ginger
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tsp rice wine vinegar
  • 2 tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  1. In a small bowl combine the stir fry sauce ingredients and whisk well.  Set aside.
  2. Heat a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.  Add 1 tablespoon of sesame oil to the skillet and add the beef. Stir until the beef is almost cooked through and transfer to a plate. Set aside.
  3. Add the remaining sesame oil to the skillet and add the broccolini & onion.  Cook until the broccolini is tender, about 3-4 minutes.
  4. Next, add the stir fry sauce to the skillet along with the beef.  Fold together until everything is coated through and the sauce begins to thicken, for about 2 to 3 minutes.
  5. Lastly stir in the sliced green onion and top with sesame seeds.  Serve over rice or noodles.
