Beer Can Chicken

  • 1 whole 4 lb. chicken, patted dry
  • 2-3 tbsp Hey Boo Cultured Ghee or butter, softened
  • 1 (12-ounce) can of beer
  • 1 jar Fairway Packing Co. Detroit Smoke BBQ Rub
  • Mikes Hot Honey, for drizzle
1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat & prepare grill for indirect cooking.
2. Rub the chicken with ghee, or butter.  Next, season with Detroit Smoke BBQ Rub, remember to season the cavity as well.
3. Pour out (or drink!) 1/4 of the beer.  Spray beer can with oil and sit the chicken on top. Place the chicken on the indirect side of the grill and cover.
4. Cook the chicken for 1 to 1 1/2 hours, or until an instant-read thermometer registers 165 degrees F. Rotating about every 20 minutes.
5. Once cooked, allow to rest for 10 minutes and drizzle with Mikes Hot Honey before carving.
